The Why: Youth — Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

The Why: Youth ("we," "us") is a Christian learning app for children and teens. We take children's privacy seriously and designed this app to comply with the Google Play Families Policy and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices parents have.

Parents are in control

A parent or guardian creates the account and sets up each child's profile. Children do not create their own accounts. The parent chooses each child's learning track and can control access to sensitive topics with a parent PIN.

What we collect

What we do NOT do

Service providers

We share the minimum necessary data with trusted providers that help run the app:

Parental rights

Parents can review, edit, or delete a child's profile at any time inside the app. To delete the entire account and all associated data, open Me → Delete account in The Why: Youth (or Me → Privacy & Data → Delete Account & Data in The Why) — deletion is immediate and permanent. If you can no longer sign in, use our account deletion page or email us instead.

Data retention & security

We keep data only as long as the account is active. Data is encrypted in transit. When an account is deleted, the associated profiles and activity are removed.
